Since it’s re-introduction to the contest scene in 1998\, the Florida QSO Party has become one of the fastest-growing and most popular State QSO Parties around today. This is due\, in part\, to the tremendous effort by the mobile teams to activate as many counties as they can in order to allow those participating from out-of-state to achieve a county “Sweep” (working all 67 Florida Counties). Florida stations operating from home are also valuable\, since that increases the chances that stations will work all counties! Regardless if you are a serious or casual participant from Florida or from outside of Florida\, the Florida QSO Party was designed to be a FUN operating event. Why not give it a try? \nNote: The 2025 Florida QSO Party log submission deadline has passed. Thanks to everyone who participated. \nThe FQP was terrific in 2025\, with many citing personal bests\, storms and love bugs staying away\, and terrific activity! The PIRATES 1×1 theme was quite popular with two stations per letter and 665 sweeps (before log checking adds a few net as busted calls outweigh NILs). 10 & 15 meters were open most hours\, yet 20 meters still provided the lion’s share of the contacts. In 2025\, management of the event passed to the Tamiami Amateur Radio Club in Venice. This will be a four-day event on April 17-20\, 2026. Operating hours are from 1200 UTC to 2359 UTC each day (Friday through Monday) with NO overnight operation allowed from 8:00 PM to 7:59 AM local time the next morning. There are 174 state parks\, trails\, and historical sites on the official park list for the event. Full details and rules can be found on the event website: https://fspota.org. \n The purpose of the event is to: \n\nPromote public awareness of ham radio and Florida’s state park system\nContribute to the recognition and appreciation of Florida’s diverse ecology\nEncourage camaraderie and sportsmanship among Florida’s Amateur Radio Operators\,\nEncourage youth (under 18) participation\, and\nProvide a venue for Florida amateurs to get out and enjoy operating in the great outdoors\n\nClubs in Florida are encouraged to begin making plans to participate in the CLUB STATION category.
